City hosting ‘Geeks on DaBus’ to test applications

HONOLULU (AP) – Honolulu’s smartphone users can participate in what the city describes as an "Amazing Race" for geeks.

The April 12 Geeks on DaBus event allows smartphone users to test the city’s mobile applications for the bus. Participants can ride from anywhere on the island to The Greenhouse Innovation Hub at 695 Auahi Street.

Registered riders who arrive by noon will receive a free lunch.

Honolulu Mayor Peter Carlisle says he wants the event to be fun way for the public to help the city determine how well the applications track bus locations, estimated times of arrival and route experience.

The city is hoping tech-savvy participants will provide feedback and photos of their experiences with the free applications, which can be downloaded at http://can-do.honolulu.gov.

Register for the event online at http://dabushnl.eventbrite.com.
