Two hikers on Maui are injured after one of them fell 50 feet off a cliff and landed on her friend.
The incident happened at a place locally known as the "Three Sisters" or "Chutes and Ladders," off the Honoapiilani Highway at Mile Marker 37, at 4:30 p.m. Thursday.
The hiker that fell is a 30-year-old woman from Flagstaff, AZ. It’s reported that she was using a rope to come down a 70-degree angle part of the hike, when she lost her grip on the rope and fell 50 feet, on top of her friend, a 21-year-old woman from Jacksonville, FL.
The 30-year-old had some minor injuries. She was airlifted out and treated by medics on scene. Her friend suffered possible head and neck injuries, was immobilized and also airlifted. She was taken to the hospital.
