Letter: Jewish have right to display menorah

A letter to the editor recently asked why a menorah — an ancient symbol of Jewish resilience and an object of religious significance — was allowed to be publicly, and temporarily, exhibited in Waikiki. The letter was nothing more than a thinly veiled attack on the Hawaii Jewish community’s right to openly practice their faith by dangerously conflating their holiday celebration with the actions of a nation-state half a world away.
