Editorial: King’s dream still apt, unfinished

Sometimes we need a nudge, a reminder of past battles that formed our society, and how they were won. Today, most Americans are given a day off from work to celebrate and reflect on the life of Martin Luther King Jr., a Baptist minister and towering figure of the civil rights movement, who for 13 years clawed back racial equality and justice from a deeply entrenched, institutionalized system of oppression, from 1955 to his assassination in 1968. And on this holiday, in this time, it appears we are in need of King’s guidance.
