There is no widespread tsunami threat for Hawaii from a magnitude 6.7 earthquake off the coast of central Chile, at 5:50 p.m. Hawaii time.
The U.S. Geological Survey reports the earthquake’s epicenter was 36 kilometers below ground, near Hacienda la Calera, Chile.
The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center based their tsunami threat level off historical earthquake and tsunami data.
