Off the news: Trying to give Hawaii floriculture its flowers

Citing damage being done to Hawaii’s floriculture production, House Bill 2194 and Senate Bill 2781 would direct state agencies to buy at least 30% all-natural, locally grown and made lei by the end of 2032, 40% by the end of 2037 and 50% by the end of 2042. Local floriculture value plummeted between 2019 and 2023, from $89 million to $44 million.
