Letter: Focus spotlight on local filmmakers, local stories

Former state Attorney General Michael Lilly was correct about the negative impact that vertical integration from Netflix’s proposed purchase of Warner Bros. would have had on Hawaii’s film industry. Paraphrasing Jack Lord, Lilly states, “productions filmed here showcase Hawaii’s landscapes to global audiences … A more consolidated entertainment industry could narrow the range of projects greenlit each year — and reduce opportunities for Hawaii to be featured at all.”
