Letter: Solve 2 problems, make nonprofits pay postage

The U.S. Postal Service is running out of money? Today, we received 16 pieces of mail consisting of one magazine, one small parcel and 14 appeals for money from nonprofit organizations — of about 300 similar requests each month. If the charge for this mail went up the same percentage as first-class mail, the post office would have plenty of money, we might avoid the frequent increases in stamp prices and the staggering amount of unwanted junk mail might decrease.
