Wave riders gathered at Kuhio beach in Waikiki on Saturday for the Surfing the Nations Freedom Surf Contest.
More than 200 surfers of all ages entered to show off their skills in the sea.
Although the waves may have been manini, there’s a big purpose behind the surf contest.
"The main vision is surfers giving back for a drug free Hawaii," said Sam Apuna of Surfing the Nations. "The entire two day event is a big family event, one of the larger surfing competitions in the summer."
The contest is held by the nonprofit Surfing the Nations, and wraps up on Sunday.
If you’re not a surfer you can still go to enjoy the tons of food, music and games.
All proceeds go towards drug prevention programs.
