Three young Hawaii artists win Congressional art contest

Three young Hawaii artists were honored Saturday night for taking the top prizes in a Congressional art competition.

Coming in first place, Michelle Leung, a Moanalua High School 12th grader.

She won $1,000 and her artwork will be displayed at the U.S. Capitol for one year.

Jade Shepard, a 12th grader at Kalani came in second.

She won $500 and her artwork will be displayed in Congresswoman Hanabusa’s D.C. office.

Gabriel Viloria, an 11th grader at Moanalua, took third place and got $250 and his artwork will be on display at Hanbusa’s Honolulu office.
