It happened just after midnight Sunday near the intersection of Highway 19 and Kawaihae Road.
According to Big Island Fire Department officials, a Ford pick-up truck collided with a compact sedan, causing two male passengers to be ejected from the car.
Officials say one of the males died at the scene, the other was taken to the hospital were he was later pronounced dead. Both are believed to be in their late teens to early 20s.
The driver of the car, also a male believed to be in his late teens to early 20s, and the driver of the truck, a man in his 40s, were taken to North Hawaii Community Hospital for treatment. Their conditions are unknown at this time.
Officials say speed and alcohol may be possible factors in the crash.
