Missing diver’s body was found

The body of a missing free-diver was found Sunday morning in Kawainui channel in Kailua.

The US Coast Guard identified him as 50 year-old Christopher Nee of Oahu. Fire officials say he went missing Saturday night while diving in Kailua bay with a friend. Around 10:30 a.m. Sunday morning ocean safety lifeguards and an HFD helicopter spotted his body underwater.

"He was in about 10-20 feet of water near the bottom, on the bottom, and a 1/4 mile off of castle point," said HFD Captain Terry Seelig.

Crews pulled Nee’s body to shore and he was pronounced dead at the scene. The medical examiner will determine his exact cause of death.
