President Obama recognized the nation’s top teachers at the white house today, including Hawaii’s teacher of the year Kristen Brummel.
"The teacher of the year from Hawaii, where is she, wave, teaches at the first school I ever went to Noelani School up in Manoa in Hawaii.”
Brummel is a fourth grade teacher at Noelani Elementary School and was named the state’s teacher of the year last October.
She traveled to the nation’s capitol for the ceremony.
The national teacher of the year award went to an educator from Maryland.
