Miss Hawaii’s first day

The new Miss Hawaii Skylar Kamaka has been busy since winning the crown last night.

She visited patients at Kapiolani Medical Center today and handed out lei.
 
Kamaka grew up in Kaneohe.

She went to Kamehameha schools and graduated from Concordia University in Oregon with a bachelor’s degree in exercise and sports science and a minor in coaching.

"I‘m just looking forward to serving the people of Hawaii and represent our state at the national level."

Kamaka will represent Hawaii in the Miss America competition next year in Nevada.
