Governor Abercromie won’t get to pick the next Maui circuit court judge because he took too long to make his selection. That’s according to the state attorney general.
The governor announced Tuesday the appointment of attorney Peter Cahill as judge to the Maui Circuit Court.
State Attorney General David Louie informed the governor that his appointment was made two days late so it’s not valid.
According to state law "the appointment of a judge has to be made within 30 days of the judicial selection commission forwarding the list of applicants to the governor."
So now the judicial selection commission will get to choose the next Maui Circuit Court Judge.
