The Honolulu Authority for Rapid Transit says it is pleased.
"We are pleased to see that Honolulu is included in this early stage of the appropriations process," said HART executive director and CEO Daniel Grabauskas. "It’s important to note that while the House funding level is not the same as the Senate bill or the President’s request, all of the New Start transit projects with full funding grant agreements were fully funded. We are confident that as we move forward with the Federal Transit Administration on signing a full funding grant agreement later this year, Sen. Dan Inouye and our entire congressional delegation will work to increase the final level of funding for Honolulu and keep the project moving forward so that we can provide Oahu residents with much‐needed relief from what is now the worst traffic congestion in the country."
