Big Island police investigate tree theft

Big Island police are investigating a theft case at Waiakea High School that is unlike most campus thefts.

That’s because instead of stealing electronic devices like laptops, the thief or thieves made off with three, 20 to 30-foot tall trees.

Police say the Ku’u trees were cut down sometime between 5 o’clock in the afternoon on Monday and six o’clock Tuesday morning.

The trees are valued at $4,500.

Anyone with information is asked to call Big Island Police.
