An 18 year-old man who was visiting Maui from Arizona died Sunday.
Officials say he was at Makapipi Falls bridge on Hana Highway in Nahiku when he went over a guard rail and fell about 40 feet onto some rocks and into the pond below.
Officials say it happened around 1:40 p.m. Sunday.

“Crews got on scene and were told by a resident that he went into the pond and saw the body approximately 30 feet below the surface,” Lee Mainaga of the Maui Fire Department said. “Rescue 10 diver went into the pond retrieved the body and brought him up to the shores of the pond.”
Rescue crews then airlifted the body to a landing zone.
The man was visiting maui with his family.
