HONOLULU — The Department of Land and Natural Resources (DLNR) Division of Forestry and Wildlife is notifying the public that vehicle access to Kuaokala and Peacock Flats is temporarily closed due to heightened military security levels at military access points (i.e. Ka‘ena Point Satellite Tracking Station).
However, the state Kuaokala and Mokuleia Forest Reserves and Kuaokala Game Management Area are still open.
Division of Forestry and Wildlife will issue permits for hiking, hunting or camping at Peacock Flats campgrounds A and B. Campers and hikers may still access these areas and the Kuaokala and Mokuleia Area trails from the Farrington Highway side by way of the Kealia and Mokuleia Access Road bike and hiking trails that remain open.
Persons holding permits for this weekend may contact Division of Forestry and Wildlife. Call 587-0166 for more information.
