More than one-thousand high school students put their science, technology engineering and math skills to the test at the 2011 first in Hawaii Regional Robotics Competition.
This year’s game is "Logo motion" – where teams earn points by maneuvering robots to hang as many logo pieces as possible.
"This is not for just the brains in the classroom this is for every average kid that wants to get excited about science and technology there’s a place for everyone on the robotics team," said former Governor Linda Lingle.
Former governor Lingle spearheaded efforts to elevate robotics competitions in the islands.
Top-performing teams move on to the championships next month in Saint Louis, Missouri.
