WATCH: Baby dolphin born at Big Island resort

There is a new addition to the Hilton Waikoloa Village resort on the Big Island.

A baby dolphin was born Monday at the resort’s Dolphin Quest facility.

About 50 guests were there to witness the rare event.

Trainers were in the water during the birth to observe and comfort 12-year-old Keo.

After about an hour, Keo gave birth to a female calf.

Trainers will monitor mom and baby for 30 days.

After that the baby will be introduced to the other dolphins at the facility, and she will be given a name.
