Hawaii’s track record on American Idol includes third place finisher Jasmine Trias.
It may surprise you to know that Jasmine’s 13-year-old sister is also a performer who hopes she will one day step out of her sister’s shadow and into the limelight.
She’s a singer, songwriter and comes from an extremely talented family.
"I grew up in a very musical household," said Nani Trias.
Born to parents Rudy and Nora Trias 13 year-old Nani Trias is the baby sister of Ronel and Jasmine, that’s right she’s the younger sister of Hawaii’s own American Idol second runner-up Jasmine Trias.
"One day I wanna be like her, she started from a small town and then she’s known national," Nani said.
Born 11 years apart, Nani has always been inspired by her big sister.
"I sang along with her and I guess it kinda rubbed off on me," she said.
The Aina Haina teenager says it wasn’t just her sister who helped her find the music within her mother, brother and uncle are also musically gifted .
The 8th grade U.H. Lab School student has been singing since she was 4-years-old, she plays the piano, guitar and also writes and composes her own songs.
:"I want to inspire people with you know, I love to sing and its my passion," she said.
The talented teen hopes to create a tradition of talented Trias’ on Idol when she plans to start auditioning for the show in two years.
She was only 6-years-old when she sat in the audience at American Idol in 2004. She got a taste of performing on stage as part of the cast of Honolulu Broadway Babies two years ago.
Her long-term goals include scoring a record deal then graduating from a university with a degree in psychology and journalism.
"I would love to be on TV as a news anchor," Nani said.
A singing news anchor…look out! In the meantime she has her sights set on super stardom.
"Cause I am your American Idol," she joked.
