Dog dies in Mililani Mauka house fire

An electrical fire damaged a townhouse in Mililani Mauka and killed a family pet this morning.

Officials say the blaze started in the kitchen of the home on Kuauli Street.

The residents were not home at the time but their four dogs were.

Officials say neighbors broke through the front door and rescued two dogs.

"Like smoke just rushed out," said Gillian Jenkins, neighbor."It was pretty thick. We were kind of choked up a bit. Two of the dogs were right by the door, so we were able to pull two of them out."

Firefighters later found a third dog and revived it.

A fourth dog was found dead in the kitchen.

Total damage is $100,000.
