Candidates for Big Island mayor, incumbent Billy Kenoi and former mayor Harry Kim squared off Friday afternoon.
They took part in a forum at UH Hilo, addressing issues ranging from transportation, to renewable energy.
"Whatever rates that are charged to HELCO is because of the people of Hawaii has to be reasonable profit and not windfall profit. It is important to seek all energies that’s compatible to our lifestyle and what people in Hawaii want," said Harry Kim.
"Photovoltaic all of our police fire stations that save us over $1 million over the next decade so the county has stepped up not just talking about renewable energy & promoting but reducing the cost of renewable energy for our county taxpayers," said Billy Kenoi.
Kenoi received 42% of the vote in the primary election and Kim received 34%.
