Big surf expected to roll in Saturday night

Forecasters say a storm low over the central north pacific has generated a north-northwest swell that will bring high surf to most islands beginning Saturday night.

Because of this, the National Weather Service says a high surf advisory will be in effect starting at 6 p.m. Saturday night for the north facing shores of all islands except the Big Island. The advisory is also in effect for the west-facing shores of Kauai.

Forecasters predict waves be in the 14 to 18 foot range. The swell is expected to peak on Sunday.

The high surf advisory is set to expire by Monday morning.
