Akaka speaks at Native Hawaiian Convention

Senator Daniel Akaka addressed the annual Native Hawaiian Convention on Thursday.

The retiring senator received a standing ovation as he wrapped up his remarks.

He reiterated his support for Native-Hawaiian recognition in Congress and hopes to have something passed before he retires.

Akaka is the first ever Native-Hawaiian to serve in the U.S. Senate.
