Art submissions sought for transit center

HONOLULU (AP) – Honolulu’s arts commission is seeking two $100,000 pieces for a bus station in Wahiawa.

City officials are seeking proposals for the Wahiawa Transit Center, a two-story building decorated in a historic theme.

The pieces will go on interior driveway walls. Officials say artist can propose murals, a sculpture or any works that would be permanently wall-mounted.

The city is accepting applications through January 11th of 2013.

The selected artist or artist team must comply with Federal Transit Administration contractor requirements due to U.S. Department of Transportation Federal Transit Administration funding of the commission.
