Monday night’s debate, featuring Democratic and Republican candidates for the U.S. Senate, is part of a broad effort to bring election issues into sharper focus for Hawaii residents.
Both are familiar names in Hawaii politics. Republican Linda Lingle served as Hawaii’s Governor, from 2002 to 2010.
Democrat Mazie Hirono has served as a representative of Hawaii’s second congressional district since 2007.
