Could there be sunken treasure off the coast of the Big Island? There’s at least one company that’s trying to find out.
A Big Island company called Kohala Enterprises is asking a federal judge to allow it to salvage an unidentified shipwrecked vessel.
Court records show that the company found metal bars and other artifacts in the salvage area.
Using metal detectors and a dive team, the company also found iron rods along with furnishings, fixtures, and cargo.
A judge has not yet ruled on whether it will allow Kohala Enterprises to salvage the ship. An attorney says the company has no comment.
