The Oahu SPCA took in ten puppies from Maui on Saturday.
The rescue agency is asking for families to help shelter the animals until permanent homes can be found.
"The foster program enable families to bring in rescued dogs and cats temporarily its ideal for people that don’t have permanent homes in Hawaii and also it helps the dogs and cats rehabilitate in the home situation in preparation for the adoption," said Stephanie Ryan, SPCA Oahu founder.
The SPCA also says there is a statewide over population problem and is asking for pet owners to spay and neuter all of their pets.
