The National Weather Service has issued a high surf advisory for north, west, and east shores of Kauai and Niihau, and for the north and east facing shores of Oahu, Molokai, Maui, and the Big Island.
Forecasters say surf along north facing shores will be between 12 to 18 feet. East facing shores with a north exposure can expect wave heights of six to 10 feet. West facing shores of Kauai and Niihau can expect surf heights between 10 and 15 feet.
According to the NWS, large breaking waves will produce very rough surf conditions and life-threatening rip currents.
The high surf advisory remains in effect until 6 p.m.Tuesday.
