Aiea pedestrian overpass reopening Tuesday

The Aiea pedestrian overpass that fell down after being struck by a forklift on a tow truck is back up again.

Over the last few days, Department of Transportation crews were able to reinstall the broken portion of the bridge.

On Tuesday, the bridge will be open again to foot traffic.

The announcement has nearby schools relieved.

"It has effected our kids coming to school because they are driven to school, and I guess they worked on it really quickly so it alleviated a lot of traffic problems for us," St. Elizabeth School assistant principal Pamela Falasco said.

The DOT says the company that was towing the forklift, Tibbitts Trucking, will need to pay for the repairs.
