U.S. Senate: Hirono leads Lingle with 63.0% after second printout

In the race for U.S. Senate, Democrat Mazie Hirono is leading Republican Linda Lingle with 63.0 percent of the vote after the second results printout.

Lingle currently has 35.5 percent of the vote.

This race is being closely watched in Hawaii and on the national stage as candidates across the country battle for control of the U.S. Senate.

On Monday, Lingle spent her time shaking hands with shoppers at Costco while Hirono was with her supporters phone banking, each trying to sway the undecided.

The candidates are battling to fill the seat being vacated by retiring Sen. Daniel Akaka.
