Iolani School robotics team wins first place for teamwork at national competition

‘Iolani School’s 5th grade First Lego League team, the iBOTS, won first place for Core Values Teamwork at the North American FLL Open held on May 21st and 22nd at Legoland, Carlsbad, California.  

Seventy Six Regional Championship teams from the United States, Canada, Mexico and Puerto Rico competed in the tournament.  

The iBOTS advanced to the North American FLL Open by winning the Body Forward State Championship Tournament in December.  

FLL is an international program for 9 to 14 year olds to get children excited about science and technology and to teach them valuable life skills.

The team members are Nicholas Arima, Andrew Kobata, Emi Muranaka, Sarah Nakamoto, Kellie Okamura, Dylan Shiu, Trevor Tamura, Keene Tanaka and Winston Wei.  They were lead by coaches, Daryl and Sheri Kobata and Team Mentor, Max Wei.
