The Coast Guard is looking for the source of recent fake distress calls.
The Coast Guard has received four prank calls in the last six weeks.
The most recent one happened Tuesday afternoon.
Most of the calls came out of East Oahu.
Officials say the young-sounding voice is almost identical to other calls.
"I don’t know who it is, but we are dedicated in finding out. We don’t want to waste tax payer dollars. We don’t want to endanger lives, we don’t want to divert resources away that actually need our help," said CDR Steve Wheeler with the U.S. Coast Guard.
A Coast Guard crew did a search, but could not find anyone in distress.
It is a felony to send out a false distress call. Penalties include prison time and fines.
