The controversial Public Land Development Corporation is holding it’s first meeting Tuesday since the election.
A law passed by the state legislature in 2011 created The PLDC giving the agency the ability to develop state lands that are currently under-used…and generate revenues for the DLNR.
But critics say the law would fast-track developments and exempt projects from several permits. Public hearings on how to implement the law drew large crowds, and Tuesday’s meeting is also drawing a crowd.
The DLNR argues that the agency has the potential to do good and is not exempt from federal and state environmental and conservation laws.
