The competition is on at the quarterback position this week for the UH Warriors.
Head Coach Norm Chow said he’d give Jeremy Higgins a look to possibly replace Sean Schroeder in the starting role after Higgins came on late to lead scoring drives in each of Hawaii’s last two lopsided losses.
In practice Tuesday, it was Higgins getting the slight edge in reps.
Hawaii visits Air Force Friday.
The 1-and-8 Warriors travel Wednesday for a Mountain West match-up with 5-and-5 Air Force on Friday at 2:30 p.m. Hawaii time.
Falcons are about a 23-point favorite.
Hilo MMA fighter injured
Some scary news regarding local boy MMA fighter, Eddie Yagin.
The Hilo native has been forced to withdraw from the upcoming "UFC on Fox 5" event because of a brain injury apparently suffered during a sparring session this past weekend.
Yagin was hospitalized with swelling around his brain, but his manager is saying surgery will likely not be required.
No word on a replacement for Yagin.
The December 8th fight card also features fellow Hilo native, BJ Penn taking on Rory Macdonald.
