All-American props for Hawaii players, Day 3 of Vans World Cup

Recognition for a member of the University of Hawaii football team.

Cornerback and return man Mike Edwards made it onto the CBSSPORTS.COM All-American list as a third teamer.

Edwards was selected as a kick returner.

He was one of only 4-players nationally with at least 3 kickoff returns for touchdowns and led the country in return yardage.

Edwards was also tied for 12th nationally with 16 passes defended.

The junior from Cleveland, Ohio who was named the Warriors’ MVP at Sunday night’s end-of-season banquet is headed toward a decision to return for his senior year, or take a shot at the NFL.

 

More All-American props

All-American props for a prep standout here in the islands.

Moanalua defensive tackle Scott Pagano, has been invited to participate in the 2013 U.S. Army All-American Bowl, January 5th in San Antonio.

Pagano will be presented with his game jersey at a special ceremony Thursday evening at Moanalua High School.

The 6-4, 280-pounder has given his verbal commitment to play college ball at Clemson.

Previous Hawaii players to suit up in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl include Juda Parker, VJ Fehoko and Solomon Koehler.

 

Vans World Cup: Day 3

Surf was up so contest was on at Sunset Beach Monday.

Day-3 action of the Vans World Cup, the second jewel in the Triple Crown of surfing.

Waves were anywhere from 6-to-10 feet.

One of the morning standouts was Sebastien Zietz of Kauai, the current Triple Crown points leader.

He was among those who advanced to round 4.

Mid-day conditions got a bit gnarlier….but 11-time world champ Kelly Slater was up to the challenge.

He won his heat and moved on.

Contest could wrap up as soon as tomorrow, surf permitting.
