The threat of heavy showers and thunderstorms has ended for now as a destabilizing upper trough has passed north of the main Hawaiian islands. Southeasterly winds will likely bring volcanic haze back over the smaller islands through most of the forecast period. A cold front will approach the islands Friday night, then stall to our west over the weekend. East winds will briefly return Saturday, but will veer to southeasterlies again Sunday. Wet weather will return early next week as low pressure approaches from the northwest.
