Weather impacts outdoor events

Mother nature didn’t ease up for organizers of outdoor events.

Vendors at the Eat the Street food truck event in Kakaako knew there was a chance of heavy rain, so they planned ahead and only prepared what was necessary.

They noticed not as many people showed up Friday night as in the past.

"We kind of prepared for the wet weather so we didn’t make as much as we normally will. But there’s still a good turnout. A lot of hungry people. You know local people love their food," said Keanue Kekaula of Pomai Kulolo. "Hopefully not everybody took a big loss tonight."

Over at Kamehameha Schools’ Kapalama campus the rain didn’t stop volunteers from setting up for Saturday’s annual Hoolaulea.

"No matter what comes – rain, snow, sleet or hail, tsunami. It’s going to happen!" said Rich Pinto, public relations committee.

The Hoolaulea is Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. There will be shuttle service from Kapalama Elementary school, Damien Memorial School, HCC, and on-campus parking locations.
