The incident happened at about 6:15 a.m. on Keolu Drive near the 76 Gas Station.
Witnesses told police that the woman had just purchased something to drink from the gas station and was walking in the crosswalk when a truck, driven by a male in his 50s, had just changed lanes to avoid a bicyclist. The driver did not see the pedestrian and struck her in the crosswalk.
Police say the victim was taken to the Queen’s Medical Center in critical condition, but was later upgraded to guarded condition.
The driver of the truck was not injured.
Investigators do not believe speed or alcohol were contributing factors.
Police have opened a negligent injury case.
The Honolulu-bound lanes of Keolu Drive between Kupau and Kamahele Streets were closed while police and Honolulu Fire Department crews worked to clear the scene.
The lanes reopened just after 9 a.m.
