The National Weather Service has issued a high surf advisory for the north and west-facing shores of Kauai, Oahu, Molokai, and Niihau, along with the north-facing shores of Maui.
Forecasters say a northwest swell will build through Thursday and remain elevated through Friday.
Surf along north-facing shores of Kauai, Oahu, Molokai, Maui, and Niihau is expected to be between 15 and 20 feet.
Surf along west-facing shores of Kauai, Oahu, Molokai, and Niihau is expected to be between 10 and 15 feet.
The public can expect strong breaking waves, shore break, along with strong longshore and rip currents, making swimming difficult and dangerous.
Beach goers, swimmers, and surfers should heed all advice given by Ocean Safety officials.
The high surf advisory remains in effect until 6 a.m. Saturday.
