Walter Hao pleaded no contest to burglary in connection with an April 2012 incident in Kaimuki.
Prosecutors say this wasn’t a typical burglary.
"In this case, when this defendant was arrested, the arresting officer was going through his phone and realized there was a 911 call made from his cell phone," Deputy Prosecutor Marina Heung said.
"I just want you to know that I am very sorry for the things that I’ve done and I want to own up to this," Hao said.
Judge Karen Ahn sentenced Hao to 10 years in prison.
Hao must serve a mandatory minimum of three years and four months because he is a repeat felon.
