On the Big Island a 53-year-old Hilo woman died after being hit by a car.
It happened on Hawaii Belt Road near Pukihae Street at around 9:30 p.m. Saturday.
Police say the woman was walking on the shoulder of the road when she was hit.
She was taken to the hospital, where she later died.
The driver of the car was not injured.
No word yet if speed or alcohol played a role in the crash.
