HONOLULU (AP) – A high surf warning has been issued for the north and west-facing shore of Oahu, and some of the other islands.
The National Weather Service in Honolulu says waves are expected to reach 20-to-25 feet Thursday night, diminishing to 15-to-20 feet overnight along north-facing shores. The warning for north and west-facing shores also was issued for Kauai, Nihau and Molokai.
A warning also was issued for north-facing shores on Maui.
Forecasters say anyone entering the water under these conditions faces the possibility of injury or death.
The warning is in place until 6 a.m. Friday.
