Water rescues near Mokulua Islands and Chinaman’s Hat

Honolulu firefighters, and Ocean Safety and emergency medical personnel were on scene late Sunday afternoon to tend to a injured person located on the back side of the Mokulua Islands.

Ocean Safety was first on scene at 4:10 p.m. Sunday as a 25-year-old female suffered an ankle injury when she was swept off the cliff side and fell about 20 feet. EMS transported her to a trauma center in serious condition. Ocean Safety assisted her boyfriend and brought him to shore. He also suffered an injury and is going to seek medical attention on his own.

Earlier in the afternoon, around 2:15 p.m., Ocean Safety lifeguards rescued four people off of Chinaman’s Hat, including three adults and one infant after their watercraft broke down. They suffered no injuries.
