Sources tell KHON2 Sports that All Big West Conference forward Isaac Fotu could be leaving the University of Hawaii.
Currently deemed ineligible from NCAA game participation, sources say the 6’8″ junior from New Zealand is considering turning professional and returning to his home country.
One day after head coach Gib Arnold and assistant Brandyn Akana were fired without cause, acting head coach Benjy Taylor revealed Wednesday that Fotu was made ineligible by UH officials from game participation stemming from the program being under investigation by the NCAA.
At this time it’s unknown what the findings of the probe are or what kind of sanctions could come if allegations are made against UH.
Fotu has not practiced with the team since Wednesday.
It is unclear when an official decision or announcement would be made regarding his future plans.
It is also unknown when the NCAA will reveal their findings of the investigation.
Coach Taylor and the Rainbow Warriors will host HPU in an exhibition game Thursday night.
