Hilo Hattie’s iconic red hibiscus store sign was found Monday morning intact after being reported missing early Friday morning.
“Today, we found the sign leaned up against the entryway, where we greet customers with lei as they enter the store,” said Mark Storfer, Hilo Hattie’s COO. “It appears to be completely unscathed and we’re putting the whole thing behind us as just a harmless Halloween prank.”
Management had promised a reward for the safe return of the sign, but since no one came forward, the company has decided to donate $500 to the Salvation Army’s emergency disaster service to support the people of Pahoa affected by the lava flow.
