Some private schools are already in session.
On Wednesday morning, Mid-Pacific Institute opened its doors with its biggest enrollment in a century and a half.
Student sign wavers and school president Joe Rice were at the main gate as the 1,554 students in grades pre-kindergarten through 12 arrived.
There was also a full school assembly to welcome in the new and returning students.
