AAA Weekend Gas Watch: Average prices dropping in some areas

Retail gas prices declined again over the past week throughout the state, according to the AAA Hawaii Weekend Gas Watch.

The Hawaii state average for regular unleaded declined by two cents during the week to $4.03 per gallon which was 24 cents less than last month and four cents lower than last year.

Honolulu’s average price dropped to $3.95 a gallon for regular unleaded — three cents less than last week, 24 cents less than last month and one cent higher than a year ago.

In Hilo, the average gas price is $4.02 a gallon, up three cents from last week, 26 cents less than last month and 23 cents less than this time last year.

Wailuku’s average is $4.14 a gallon, a nickel less than last week, 27 cents less than last month and 24 cents lower than last year.

"More retail pump price declines continue to free up dollars for locals and visitors to spend on groceries, dining, and attractions," said AAA Hawaii Branch Supervisor Cynthia Hall. "Today our state average is within three cents of the $4 a gallon mark."
